"I shouldn't be having this much trouble." Oisa said aloud. She was in her cave with wings at an odd angle, wobbling around on one hind leg while the other three did various tasks. Dragons don't usually do much packing; however, Oisa and her friends were taking a flying tour this very day. There would be no time to hunt because they needed to make good travel time. This was the reason for her current predicament - cramming as much bison, blueberry pie, and chocolate cake in her travel sling as she could.
The sharp trill of her Gershk* made her start. Oisa's bag flew open and out tumbled all her food. Sighing, she left the mess and went to answer the door. The excitement of seeing her friends quickly pushed thoughts of the cursed pile in her room away. "I guess fellowship with friends might be worth the price of packing." she thought with a bemused smile.
*Gershk - small, gerbil like creatures. They have a body made of a hard material that resembles gemstone. Dragons often keep them in a gilded cage to alert them of visitors to their dwelling.

Packing is a Pain for Dragons Too

Humans are a Strange Bunch
Not to offend any of you Human-lings, but you are a slightly odd bunch. Er, perhaps even very odd. Don't get me wrong; strange can be wonderful - and often is - but some strange is just... well, strange.
Take your Human-ling notions of what Dragons are like. You think we are all grouchy, knight-eating tyrants, or, (as one Human movie I was privy to watch lately - The NeverEnding Story - shows us) we seem to be fuzzy worm dogs; but at least we aren't as ill-tempered when in that guise. I don't know how these silly ideas became planted in the Human psyche, but I find them endlessly amusing. (As opposed to some others of my kind that view it as species-ist and discriminatory.)
During my ponder time lately, it has repeatedly struck me how differently Humans view work. You all must work to earn "money" without which you can't eat. It is unfortunate that you aren't all fine-tuned hunting machines like Dragons, but that is something to take up with the Creator I suppose, and not your fault. Dragons do not even have a word for money; we hunt for food - which is blessedly plentiful - and when we need something done that we are not skilled in, other Dragons are ready to step up to help.
Fortune seems to be a large factor in Human work. A rare few find employment, and you that do are grateful for anything; forget liking what you are doing. That is a boon indeed. Dragons, on the other hand, spend many hours a day "working" or studying what they please. This lends itself to productivity and enjoyment because you can stop at any time and take a break, or work on something else.
Now, now. I know what you're thinking. "Oisa, you are full of skrat tails! Dragon life sounds too perfect." Perhaps I am trying to shed light on the best parts of our life to counteract the largely negative image Human-lings have in their tiny skulls. Dragons are of course not all diligent, thoughtful, and constructive; and we all have our lazy days (or weeks, or months, etc.).
On another note, I am sooooooo excited! In five days I am taking a flying tour with some friends! We are going to travel roughly 60,000 leagues to visit our friend, Tsukay. She lives in the Eastern seaside caves, and I am so looking forward to dining on the Eastern delicacies - and seeing Tsukay of course =D
I hope I haven't offended any of you and that you will tune in whenever I get around to rambling on again.

Time Flies When You're a Dragon
For those of you who are unaware, time literally flies for Dragons. We have clocks with wings and watches that are programmed to dive bomb your head when you are late or it is time to get up. This is why there is no Dragon phrase that is at all similar to the Human one of "Time flies when you're having fun."
Anywho, this is me, Oisa, finally settling down to write a little more about what has happened since I began telling you of some important features in my life. (Mostly because one of my lovely friends mentions that I should each time I talk to her lately)
First of all, my dear friend Ytora has found her own suite of caves north-east of me; a flight that takes about sixty talons (a measure of time) if the rest of the fliers have their wits about them. My parents miss her fun ways and pixie like good humor. I miss the impromptu dance parties.
My mom and I no longer watch over little Inaarit and Delorvor. I guess most of the previous information I gave you is now null and void!
I promise to let you even deeper into the world of a Dragon very soon, but Dragons like to peel back the layers one scale at a time.
